Bio:

Geraldine Poublanc is a native French speaker with an extensive academic background, holding three master's degrees in Law, Linguistics, and French as a Foreign Language. Her career began in France, where she taught law, literature, history, and geography before expanding her teaching experience internationally in several African countries.

Driven by a passion for inclusive education, Geraldine is particularly dedicated to integrating students with learning difficulties/special needs into immersion classrooms. Her commitment to educational equity extends to active advocacy for both teachers’ rights and students’ access to equal learning opportunities.

For the past 13 years, she has been a dedicated educator in Louisiana, currently teaching third grade at Mamou Elementary School. Beyond the classroom, she serves as a leader within the school and wider community, organizing events that celebrate and strengthen French cultural heritage. Through her efforts, she promotes language learning as a means of fostering diversity, tolerance, and future professional opportunities for her students.

Presentation Abstract:

This presentation explores the effective use of the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) Reading Fluency assessment to support students with dyslexia in foreign language classrooms. It highlights how DIBELS can be used to monitor reading progress, identify areas of need, and guide targeted instruction. By incorporating regular fluency assessment into foreign language instruction, educators can better support students with dyslexia and promote greater reading success and confidence.
